Fujocon 2022!

IT’s been a little while since I’ve had some news to report, but this is some big news!

I’ll be returning as a panelist to Fujocon 2022, an online convention dedicated to fans of yaoi and boys’ love (BL) and related subjects.

Two shows will be making a repeat appearance at Fujocon — Family Feud and BL Against Humanity.

Two other shows will be making their debuts at Fujocon — A BL themed version of Let’s Play Live!: The Jackbox Party Pack and a BRAND NEW event, Password!

Fujocon is 100% online, scheduled for June 24-26. Registration is FREE, so what are you waiting for?

Thank You, Fujocon!

I want to give a most sincere THANK YOU to the Fujocon staff for creating this fantastic event and for giving me the chance to spread my weird humor and game show nerdiness to y’all. I’ve helped run conventions before. I know how much stress it can be, and I can imagine doing it in an online space brings its own set of headaches. The staff did a fantastic job keeping the energy up and providing so many ways to engage.

I also want to thank everyone wno watched or played in the Gundam Wing panel, Family Feud, and BL Against Humanity. I had so much fun presenting these and I’m truly happy to know that people enjoyed them as well.

When doing BL panels at cons in the Before Times, my favorite part was the usual post-panel conversation with folks that would last until the wee hours of the morning. In that tradition, my DMs are open to keep talking about the medium that brings us together. My socials are also in the social-media-drop channel if that suits you better.

Once again THANK YOU EVERYONE and I can’t wait to see everyone at Fujocon 2022!

Schedule Updates: Fujocon and Animatic Con

In additon to Fujo Family Feud and Free! Match Game PM, we’ll also be presenting Gundam Wing: The Hot, The Weird, The WHAT?! This is a look at the fandom and the huge amount of fanworks created for this classic series. Be sure to look for it on Fujocon’s schedule! If you haven’t registered for Fujocon, there’s still time!

We are excited to announce that we’ll also be at Animatic Con in Cincinnati, OH from July 29th to August 1st. We have four events on the schedule: Anime Game Show Party, Anime Family Feud, and two Let’s Play LIVE! events — Super Mario Maker, and The Jackbox Party Pack. Hotel rooms and registration are still open! Check Animatic Con’s website for all the details.

Matsuricon 2021 Update

We had high hopes of being able to return to Matsuricon this year with even more content for many of AGSP’s biggest fans. While things are beginning to open up as more people are vaccinated against COVID-19, it’s not quite completely safe to hold massively large indoor events.

Matsuricon had to make the gut-wrenching call to cancel their 2021 convention. While heartbreaking to see, we’re very glad that Matsuricon is acting with their attendees’ best interest at the front of their mind. As registrations and event submissions are being rolled forward, we look forward to working with the con to make a triumphant return in 2022.

WE do have some other events planned in the remainder of 2021. Check the Appearances for full details.

Update on “A Male Perspective on BL/Yaoi”

I’ve made the decision to retire this panel as of June 30, 2021.

When I first created this panel in 2008, the landscape of the BL/yaoi fandom, general anime fandom, and society at large were much different than they are in 2021. Many of the barriers to welcoming all fans of BL into the community have eroded. It isn’t a utopia, but as a self-proclaimed “fudanshi,” I feel much more a part of the fandom. Highlighting the differences between genders of BL fans has grown pretty irrelevant.

In the coming months I will be completely starting from scratch on the topic. I hope to have a brand new BL/yaoi panel ready for the 2022 convention season.

Feel free to discuss the state of the BL fandom and its acceptance of fans regardless of gender or identity in the comments.

2020 Update

I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected. This year has obviously not been the greatest, and many people have been affected by so many different crises that it can be hard to keep up with them all.

Due primarily to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many fan conventions have been postponsed or cancelled. At this point, Anime Game Show Party is scheduled for Animatic Con in Cincinnati, OH in October, though my perspective is that the show will have to cancel if a significant turnaround in the spread of the virus in Ohio isn’t achieved soon.

Either way, AGSP will be taking a hiatus until at least January 1, 2021. I’ll be working on material in the meantime, and I am still accepting requests for shows for virtual conventions. I’ve successfully adapted Family Feud and the Yuri on ICe and Gundam Wing panels for presentation through Twitch, Zoom, or Discord. Use the contact form if you’re interested.

COVID-19 update

Like almost every part of life, the convention world has been rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Countless conventions have been postponed or cancelled to make sure that the most important part of the convention — the people — are safe.

Anime Game Show Party and my other panels were submitted to several of these conventions. We are closely monitoring the status of those conventions and this post will be updated as they announce any potential schedule changes.

Animatic Con: Rescheduled to October 16-18, 2020
Tekko: Cancelled for 2020.
Anime Central: Cancelled for 2020.

Each convention has a slightly different procedure regarding panelist status, and we are working with each convention to prepare for their next show.

As the pandemic evolves and changes how conventions are presented to the fans, Anime Game Show Party will evolve along with our convention partners and will keep providing quality content while making sure that everyone is safe.
