Game Shows and Live Events

  • Anime Game Show Party
    What would happen if someone took some of your favorite TV and board games, added in a pair of dice and a wacky host, then threw it all in a blender and hit the smoothie button? You’d have a big ol’ party! Anime Game Show Party takes elements you’re familiar with and mixes them in with a healthy dose of anime trivia, stunts and dares, and two dice that can change the course of the game in one single throw.

  • BL Against Humanity
    The popular (infamous?) party game now has a BL twist! Using a deck of nothing but customized cards, play against your fellow fans. This hilarious fill-in-the-blank comedy game is sure to bring the best of the worst out in our players.
  • Card Sharks: The Hi-Lo Game with a Fandom Twist
    Aces are high, deuces are low. Play your cards right, and win all the dough! We’ve surveyed [media type] fans of all kinds and gotten their answers to yes/no questions. If you can predict what they said, you’ll get to call cards, eventually betting on the cards to win BIG!
  • Anime Family Feud
    “Survey SAYS!” It’s a phrase we’ve all heard. Here’s the anime-themed version of the show that started it all! Two teams compete to see who knows the anime fandom better. At stake – fabulous prizes for the lucky winning “family!” The Feud is sure to be a hit with game show and anime fans alike!
  • Gambit: A Game of Risk, Trivia, and Blackjack
    This blackjack-based game show has enjoyed multiple runs on TV, and now comes to the convention circuit! Answer trivia questions and use shrewd strategy to try and make your hand equal 21. Then go on to the Run 21 bonus game for a chance at one of three fabulous prizes! 
  • High Rollers: The Big Dice, Big Fun Game
    Roll two dice, and out of the digits 1 through 9, take digits out of the game that add up to your roll. That’s how you play Shut the Box, but now add glamor, lights, fun trivia, and a major prize, and you have High Rollers, a TV game show from the 70s and 80s brought to the convention spotlight!
  • Let’s Play LIVE!: The Jackbox Party Pack [18+]
    Conventions often feel like parties, so here’s the chance to play some of the hottest party games out there! We’ll be playing Fibbage, Drawful, Quiplash, and more. Bring your phones, tablets, or laptops… and your IDs. This is uncensored and no-holds-barred.
  • Fandom Jeopardy!
    The classic answer-and-question game is here! Using authentic music, sound effects, and graphics from the hit TV show, Fandom Jeopardy! puts you as close to being on the actual show as possible while challenging your knowledge with a broad range of topics from anime to video games, to the fandom itself. This format is proven, popular, and most importantly, easy to play along with! If you think you have what it takes, be sure to complete the entrance exam prior to the show!
  • Fandom Match Game PM [18+]
    Fans of our featured franchise and Cards Against Humanity will not want to miss this! Join six characters from a popular series as they fill in the blank to some hilarious questions and try and match contestants picked right from the audience. Plays just like the TV game show, including the chance to win some cool prizes and swag!
  • Fandom Password
    “Password” has been on the air on TV since the 1960s, and the classic game now comes to your favorite convention! Guess the solutions to fandom-themed puzzles by giving clever one-word clues, leading to an exciting endgame where you can win fantastic prizes! The password is… FUN!
  • The Fandom Pyramid
    Based on one of television’s most popular game shows, The ¥25,000 Anime Pyramid pits two teams in a battle of quick wits and strategy, for a chance to face what’s been called the most dramatic minute in television – the Winner’s Circle, for a chance at some very lovely prizes.
  • Scrabble: The Convention Game Show
    It’s the crossword game you’ve played all your life, but never quite like this! Based on the popular 1980s daytime TV classic, four players will match wits against a board filled with mind-twisting clues and letters where they shouldn’t be, for a chance at becoming the Scrabble Champion? You don’t have to know a ton about the fandom to have fun watching (or playing on stage)!
  • Tic Tac Dough: Fandom Trivia with a Dragon?!
    It’s everybody’s game of strategy, knowledge, and fun! Tic Tac Dough is a moderate fandom quiz show where you’re bound to learn something new about some of your favorite anime, manga, comics, games, and more. The winner of each match tries to Beat the Dragon for a fabulous prize package!
  • Fandom Wheel of Fortune
    It’s America’s Game! Join and watch the show as it looks, sounds, and feels just like the long-running TV program. Contestants will be picked for the main game right from the audience.
  • Wipeout: A Fandom Game Show
    Given a list of 12 possible RPG titles, could you find the six real ones? What about actual names of cards in Magic: The Gathering? If you’ve got a broad set of knowledge, then you’re ready to play Wipeout! The 80s themed convention game show where right answers lead to prizes, but the wrong choice will wipe out your score.

Panels and Workshops

  • Anime Old Enough to Drink
    Your twenty-first birthday is a time for celebration. Why not save a cold one for some classic shows that can also enjoy some potent portables… If shows had mouths, that is. In this panel, we’ll go on a dig to find some of the most intriguing shows ever to grace a VHS cassette or a DVD. We’ll talk about some of the shows that brought anime out of the shadows and into your cable boxes and streaming services, We’ll also discover some deeper cuts of shows that you may have missed – as well as how to watch these classics legally! For our more experienced attendees, feel free to share your favorite shows with some fresh faces! We’ll talk about any and all non-18+ show that came out 21 (or more) years ago.
  • Con Story Campfire
    We’ll be sharing the trials and tribulations of what con life was like “back in the day” – complete with mailing in registrations, printing out MapQuest directions, and more. Convention veterans are more than welcome to share their unique experiences with fellow con-goers in this audience-driven recollection of good times gone by.
  • Swords, Sorcery, and Spaceships: Final Fantasy IV, 30+ Years Later
    Calling all “spoony bards!” Final Fantasy IV, the groundbreaking RPG for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, recently turned 30, and is one of the most popular and most influential entries in the franchise. We’ll explore what’s given it enough staying power to have two sequels, various remakes, and a strong fanbase more than three decades later.
  • Gundam Wing Mission Brief
    For a generation of anime fans, Gundam Wing was one of the first series they saw, whether on DVD or Cartoon Network. Join Dusty in a roundtable discussion of what has kept this fandom alive and well for the last thirty years, including discussions of new material and merchandise, the vibrant fanwork community, and how to begin exploring this gateway into the Gundam franchise.
  • Gundam Wing: The Hot, The Weird, The WHAT?! [18+]
    When Toonami came onto the scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s, one show in the block helped form the now-popular fanwork community: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Join us for a look at just how this show about boys in giant robots helped push fanfiction, fanart, and more forward, both in Japan and in the West.
  • It Gets Better, 10+ Years Later: How to Make It Better
    The It Gets Project Better was founded in 2010 to help reduce bullying and encourage young LGBTQIA+ people that they can live and thrive beyond their teenage years. In this roundtable, we’ll take a look at what they have done, how it affected the treatment of LGBTQIA+ kids, and what we as people under that umbrella can do to help young people truly believe that it gets better.
  • Livin’ the Con Life: How to Get Started
    Science fiction, anime, comic book, and general fandom conventions have been around for generations, but have exploded in the past two decades. They can bring you some of the most amazing experiences of your life! But, jumping into the experience can be overwhelming at first. Join us for a basic primer and learn tools, tips, and tricks that will help you get the most out of your convention experience while keeping safe and sane. No question is too silly to be asked here!
  • You Got This! Chronic Illness, Conventions, and You
    Dealing with health concerns can provide challenges to everyday life, and can provide unique challenges to convention attendees, staff, and others. In this round-table discussion and experience sharing session, we will share ways to maximize your convention experience while staying healthy.
  • Yuri!!! on ICE: Boundary Breaker, History Maker
    The shining star of the Fall 2016 anime season was Yuri!!! On ICE. The show earned of millions of fans on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Join us for a roundtable discussion about how this seemingly innocent ice skating anime bucked trends, championed LGBTQ+ representation, and captured millions of hearts and imaginations.
  • Yuri!!! on SPICE: Ships, Stories, Art and More [18+]
    Yuri!!! On ICE continues to surprise and amaze fans across the world. In this fun and silly no-boundary roundtable, we’ll discuss the finer points of the show, share recommendations for fanworks, and play some fun games and activities to celebrate everyone’s favorite figure skaters.
